Day and Night System

The Day and Night System is a Virtual Clock, a cyclical time system within the game that simulates a 24-hour cycle. It is completely independent of real-life time, designed to bring more life to the game and create a more dynamic environment. This system is more focused on specific situations, rather than spread throughout the game. It is a feature that gives more personality to certain areas and missions, rather than blocking or hindering the player's progress. The Virtual Clock is also integrated with other game systems, such as the Johto Brotherhood, where contract NPCs change from time to time based on this cycle.

It works as follows:

  • Day: from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. (in-game time);
  • Night: from 6 p.m to 6 a.m. (in-game time);
  • A complete cycle (24 hours in-game) takes 4 hours in real time. Therefore, the daytime period in-game lasts 2 hours in real time, and the nighttime period in-game also lasts 2 hours in real time.

The in-game time can be viewed in the upper left corner of the map, as shown in the image below.

ATTENTION: There is no visual change in the environment during the time change. For example, the streets will not become darker at night or lighter during the day. The ambient effects applied in some locations should not be confused with the Virtual Clock system. These ambient effects can be enabled or disabled by changing their intensity through the game settings window (Shortcut O > Graphics > Shader intensity).
